Getting to meet Ari Marcopoulos & seeing his show at V1 in Copenhagen was very interesting. Others I really enjoy are Matthew Stone of London, Peter Funch in NYC or just being on Instagram…

Give me three words to describe Copenhagen in the Summer.
I'll give you three sentences instead. Drinking cold beers in the street. Hot girls on bikes. Hanging out in parks or the city beach spot.

New Arrivals: SS12 Jackets

The early Spring sunshine in Copenhagen disguises a biting chill in the morning air. This provides a perfect setting to release the latest arrivals from our SS12 jacket program.

The Nesvik is a traditionally cut parka made from a medium to light weight tightly woven cotton sourced from the UK. Details include twin zippered chest pockets, twin lower front pockets with snap stud closure and a Norse Projects badge on the upper left sleeve.

The Gil, made from the same tough fabric as the Nesvik, features a stow away hood, a chest pocket with concealed zipper and herringbone zip detailing on the placket.

Norse Projects x ELKA x La MJC

French creative agency La MJC celebrate their 10 year anniversary with a new take on the classic ELKA jacket. As part of the project, La MJC collaborated with Lacoste, Undefeated, Stüssy and Norse Projects.

Inspired by the French national flag and the need for keeping dry on the streets of Paris, here is the newly transformed ELKA jacket:

La MJC was founded in Paris in 2001 by Michael Dupouy and Julien Wagner. Using their immersion in street culture, they have consulted numerous companies over the past decade and created a name for themselves through a variety of mediums. In 2004, Julien left the project to pursue a career at Nike, but still works closely with Michael. The success of La MJC ranges from the popular Cool Cats blog and store, where they work in close context to Ed Banger records amongst others; to the 'All Gone' books which annually showcase the wonderful world of street fashion.

The ELKA Parka design takes on a slightly shorter cut for this collaboration. The most noticeable feature of the jacket is the colour blocking, which addresses the French national colours and relinquishes its sporty identity. It features a zip through front which is concealed by press stud fastening and parka style four pocket frontage.

Additional features include a breathable inner, updated adjustable cuffs, drawcord hood and an ELKA logo stamped on the yoke.

The jacket has been made exclusively for Cool Cats, Colette, Norse Projects and Norse Store.

Norse Projects by Ally Capellino

Norse Projects is proud to present the Fjell Nylon Rucksack in collaboration with Ally Capellino.

With the original Fjell Rucksack receiving an overwhelming response when it was released in August 2010, we thought it would be suitable to continue the partnership. The Fjell Nylon Rucksack is the result of this.

The tough, water resistant nylon exterior acknowledges the fundamental demand for a hard-wearing rucksack and is united with a suede base and classic 'Ally' leather straps. Inside, there is a padded 15" laptop compartment secured by a velcro strap.

Norse Projects for Pro-Keds

Norse Projects is proud to announce a partnership with iconic footwear brand, Pro-Keds. In a capsule collection featuring a re-worked Pro-Keds Royal Master, Norse Projects present a stripped down version in three colourways drawn from prominent elements in Copenhagen everyday life: the ocean, the beach and old town.

Originally released in 1972 as the Royal Plus, The Royal Master was one of the most well-known Pro-Keds basketball styles created. Revered for its high performance and unquestionable style, the Royal Master's legacy was shaped by some of the greatest players in the game and gained its credibility through creative personalities on the street.

For this release, they feature a soft pigskin suede outer, cork inner sole and are lined with premium leather. To finish, the leather heel tab is aniline dyed.

AW11 Gloves

Copenhagen is beginning to become a cold city once again. With Christmas just around the corner, it's time to invest in beanies, scarves and gloves. We have teamed up with Swedish glove manufacturer Hestra to produce three styles of glove for AW11. Hestra was founded in 1936 by a Swedish farmer called Martin Magnusson. Since their birth, they have created gloves for lumberjacks, explorers and the Swedish national ski team.

The Staale is an update from the popular AW10 version. This classic workwear glove features a soft deer skin leather outer, slim wool terry lining, embossed Hestra x Norse Projects logo stamp and white tab on the opening.

The Iver features a deer skin leather outer and extended wool lining. There is press stud fastening at the opening and zig zag stitching on the cuff, finished with a white Norse Projects tab and embossed branding on the exterior.

Another new style for AW11, the Arnar carries a two tone design with a wool and leather exterior. There is a re-enforced leather trim at the opening, wool lining and white Norse Projects tab to finish.

AW11 Collaboration

Take a look at the latest offering from the ongoing Norse Projects x Oi Polloi collaboration. AW11 sees the introduction of a new jacket, knit and beanie.

The Kaare Jacket is a fully functional pullover jacket made from tough dry finish cotton. It is modelled on a vintage outdoors jacket and draws inspiration from the outerwear worn by Scandinavian explorers. Available in three colourways, it features a large front pouch pocket with concealed zip closure and two lower front pockets. There are drawcords at the hood and middle and it is finished with an exclusive Norse Projects x Oi Polloi badge stamped to the left sleeve. Inside, there is a contrast cotton lining and elasticated sleeves.

The Kirk Knit is a thick crew neck knit made from 100% pure new Scottish wool. The knit is based on a turtle neck jumper worn by Kirk Douglas in the 1965 war film 'The Heroes of Telemark'. With a few slight modifications, the jumper has been re-modelled for AW11 and stays true to the original. It is available in off-white and brown. The brown version does not undergo a dyeing process - instead, the wool has been taken from the darker sheep rather than lighter ones. Matching beanies in both colours are also available. Made from the same wool yarns, they display a traditional Nordic pattern and tassel on the top.

AW11 Outerwear

This season's outerwear program features a variety of fabrics, including British Millerain waxed cotton. Here are three jackets from the collection which will protect you against that fast approaching winter weather.

The Skilliam Jacket is made from British Millerain waxed cotton and features a plaid lining and detachable zipped hood. The Lindisfarne Jacket also has a British Millerain waxed cotton outer, with a cosy wool lining and drawcords at the hood, middle and hem. The Nunk Jacket has a dry finished cotton outer, with herringbone zip detailing and a Norse Projects badge stamped to the left sleeve.

AW11 Look book

Norse Projects proudly presents looks for Autumn Winter 2011. As always, Norse Projects draws on inspiration found locally in the subtle Scandinavian outdoor and urban scapes. With a strong focus on high quality materials and manufacturing techniques, and an increasingly sharp eye for technical features, AW11 sees the expansion of the Elka line, a strong collaboration with British retailer Oi Polloi and easily the strongest knitwear and jacket program yet.

AW11 Denim

Here is a closer look at the denim offering from the Autumn / Winter 2011 collection.

The Norse Projects jeans are available in three different cuts. The 'One' jean is a traditional work inspired straight cut, made for those who want a tough loose fitting jean. The 'Two' jean (pictured) is an all round classic slim cut, with a low rise and narrow leg from top to bottom. The 'Three' jean is a tapered cut, created to take a subtle streetwear design.

All three styles are constructed using our own 13,5oz white selvage denim, made in Europe. It is a raw, unwashed denim, which means it starts tough and gets softer each time they are worn. All three styles feature a standard five pocket design and button up fly.

The Oskar Denim Shirt is available in washed denim (pictured) and a raw denim finish. It is modelled on a vintage Swedish military shirt which was originally made in heavy twill. This updated version features a short three button placket and single chest pocket with flap button closure. It is loose fitting, designed to be thrown over tees, jerseys or sweatshirts.

The Eske Denim Shirt is a loose fitting work / military inspired shirt, made from a medium weight overdyed denim. Detailing includes twin chest pockets: one with flap button closure and the other with a small compartment to keep a pencil or two. The sleeves include an extra panel running from the cuff to the elbow to ensure it is hard wearing when working at a table. It is finished with a white tab on the placket just above the hemline.

AW11 Jerseys

Horizontal stripes have been a core part of the Norse Projects look since the very first season. Autumn / Winter 2011 features striped tees, jerseys and knits. The three long-sleeved jerseys below are all made in Europe from 100% cotton using an interlock weaving method. This weave creates a softer and heavier texture, making them more practical for the winter months.

The Arvid LS Tee features thin stripes and a contrast collar and cuffs. The medium weight and long sleeves make this a perfect tee for the winter.

This heavy weight tee includes a rib insert on the front and a ribbed collar and cuffs. The thick stripes and slits at the bottom of the sideseams creates a vintage sports finish.

Nordic fishermen have always been known to wear navy and white stripes whilst out at sea. The Hallur LS Tee is modelled on this traditional look and features a white Norse Projects tab on the sleeve.

AW11 T-Shirts

The collection for Autumn / Winter 2011 draws influence from Nordic landscaping and nature. Above, a weathered sea buckthorn is pictured - a common Nordic shrub. In Autumn, it gets studded with orange-red berries. This is one example of how the collection has been modelled on the Nordic outdoors.

The popular Niels Boucle t-shirt returns to the collection for Autumn / Winter 2011. The flecked detailing set on a black background reminds us of gazing into a starry sky. The seams feature a lighter flat-lock stitching.

The over-dyed melange cotton / viscose mix offers a textured detail to this basic t-shirt. It features the white Norse Projects tab on the front and a bright orange tipping detail inside the collar.

The Niels Stripe SS t-shirt has a ribbed neckline and single chest pocket. The alternate stripes are grey moulinet and grey melange cotton, resulting in an over-dyed vintage soft jersey.

AW11 Elka Jackets

The Elka jacket has been an integral part of the collection since Autumn / Winter 2009. The jacket is made in collaboration with Danish rainwear brand Elka and it is modelled on a traditional fisherman's coat. It is designed to be practical, durable and willing to withstand extreme weather conditions. The Elka jacket keeps these characteristics, but moves away from the traditional box-fit, taking on a slimmer design.

The yellow colorway is based on the traditional jackets that fishermen would wear on the Nordic coastline - the yellow jacket would draw attention to fishermen who were thrown overboard. The Elka jacket is made from 90% PVC and 10% polyester. They are 100% waterproof and include a breathable lining.

New to the mix this year is the Color Block jacket, available in two colorways. It features a chest pocket with a fully waterproof contrast zip closure, along with two main front pockets with press stud closure. The seams on all of the Elka jackets are pressed, so water cannot drain through.

The white jacket is a new colorway this season. All of the Elka jackets feature a zip through front, enclosed by silver press studs to cover the zip. They also include a drawcord hood and adjustable cuffs to keep the rain out.

Norse Projects is proud to announce the arrival of the first pieces for AW 2011. The entire collection can now be viewed online at www.norseprojects.com. A few of our newly arrived shirts are highlighted below; we hope you like what you see.

A reissue of the popular Villads Heavy Shirt in a series of new colours for AW11. This shirt is made from ultra heavy duty cotton with wooden buttons and front label branding.

A new take on last season's Gunnar is the Gunnar Two - a corduroy, country inspired mash up featuring plaid front and sleeve panelling, branded navy buttons and a contrast back loop.

Based on the popular Anton shirt, the Anton Circle utilizes a light dose of a natural fibre called Ramie, the fabric is woven in Japan, and dotty!

Modern twist on a classic BD oxford - the Asle is a classic stripe shirt with single colour panels on the inner-arm and at the top button, a bigger collar and standard issue detailing such as Norse inscribed buttons and single chest pocket.

Perhaps the most familiar face in the Norse family, Mikkel is head of sales and spends a great deal of his time on the road and in the air. He knows the products better than most and has chosen a couple of favourites to share with us.

The Alvar jacket with anorak styling and toned elbow to wrist patches is a standout, both in the city or when indulging nature's goods. This also works with Mikkel's favourite camo pants.

The Heikki Sailor LS with its 3/4 sleeves and high quality cotton yarn pays homage to seafaring folk.

The Aros is a super comfortable short made in Europe with a light hearted plaid which works as well on the wharf as it does at the 19th hole.

The Harald steps away from the popularity of the 5 panel and nods towards sporting lifestyle. Mikkel does hats like he does different footwear everyday. I mean everyday.

Norse Projects are proud to announce a project done for our friends from Precinct 5 in Amsterdam with a set that nods towards the street, where Precinct 5's roots run deep.
The small collection is made up of 3 pieces, with 2 caps and a customized Elka jacket.

Norse Projects X Precinct 5 update on the classic Danish rain jacket from Elka. Based on a 4 pocket military parka fit and slightly lengthened, this comes with hidden press buttons, chest pockets, patch pockets and backpanel in a navy contrast colour. It's almost as if the internationals out number the Danes at Norse Projects these days. This week's staff picks come from our dear Icelandic production and sourcing assistant Valdis, who will leak her personal favorites from the collection for which she's been sweating over for the last year.

Always well prepared, and in full knowledge that the Scandinavian weather can treat you harshly, Valdis has her Aldar Jacket at the ready in hope of a sudden shower.

The Hunter Knit is perfect for day trips into the Icelandic wilderness, whether stalking reindeer or not.

The Yukari Hotta Love You Japan Charity Tee - actually one of the few items Valdis didn't sweat over. As a great show of support - these are almost sold out.

People from Iceland are incredibly good at sliding into a new community unnoticed. What better way to do it than with the popular Hamar sixpence; a head piece that requires no attention but styles any outfit upwards.

Norse Projects has many ties to Japan, both through the brand and our friends there. Although the Japanese disaster was over a month ago, we shouldn't forget. Millions of people are still affected by this tragedy and will be for a long long time.. We have gathered 3 artists and friends of the house to hep us show our support by designing a tee shirt each from which we will donate all proceeds to the Japanese Red Cross.

How did you approach this project?

Just going at it in one of my sketchbooks - having as much fun as possible.

What gets you up in the morning, or keeps you up at night?

My hungry kids get me up in the morning, coffee gets me through the day and the most of the evening, even more coffee, drawing and sometimes the thought of dying gets my through half of the night.

Agnete Emilie for Norse Projects

For a young buck, Agnete Emilie certainly tames with her wild mix of illustration and type, of which she is a true talent at both. She sends us pondering with her cheeky commentary.

How did you approach this project?

Well I like illustration and I certainly love typography, so why not mix those two. To some extent the ironic captions were chosen spontaneously, but all of them have a certain air surrounding them. Their feel doesn't always fit the situation. I wanted to contrast the overworked detailing in the typography.

What gets you up in the morning, or keeps you up at night?

Still being a student, the cliche of working too much keeps me up plenty of nights. And if work doesn't, something else does. Which is why I can never get up in the mornings.

Top 5 albums for listening to when you're working?

My choice of music varies from Autechre and Kona Triangle to Bonobo. Always listening. A friend of mine recently recommended First Aid Kit to me. Those two Swedish girls can sing. Also I've just rediscovered Boards of Canada from my music library. The choice of music changes with my mood.

What's your biggest source of inspiration right now?

6 armed Belgian art trio Pica Pica live in a colourful, geometric world creating fantastic child-like installations.

How did you approach this project?

PP: We wanted to use objects from our paintings but we didn't want a copy/paste thing. We had to find a way to translate the painting matter into something more "graphic", just a big colourful shape. We used the pixel like shape to differentiate the designs from the paintings in an obvious way, one is handmade the other one isn't, the painting is a piece of art, the t-shirt is just a t-shirt.

What gets you up in the morning, or keeps you up at night?

M: Love/curiosity
J: My alarm clock in the morning, coffee and late work at night.
B: seeing the stuff from the day before, in daylight and being out here by night.

How did you approach this project?.

By trying to figure out what tee's I felt like wearing, 6 months in
advance.

The alarm on my cellphone gets me up, too much soberness keeps me up
at night.

Jens Funder for Norse Projects

Jens believes in a certain freedom created by limitations and creates high contrast, line based imagery, constantly playing with strong and soft light. City: Copenhagen

How did you approach this project?

The t-shirt prints consist of elements from larger drawings.
Usually I work within a dense surface leaving only a few areas untouched. In these prints I wanted to work with objects instead of scapes. Still I was interested in working in the area between minimalism, naturalism and abstraction.

What gets you up in the morning, or keeps you up at night?

Right now what keeps me up at night is the fact that I can't go skate
whenever I feel like it. Snow everywhere. I need to do that a lot in
order to focus on stuff.

Norse Projects - SS11

The imminent release of Norse Projects SS11 collection sees the largest range to date and continues to mix finely crafted menswear with detailed casuals and traditional workwear. SS11 draws inspiration from bare-footed beach days in the long and mystical Scandinavian summer light, and as always, our long and rich Nordic history.

The first drop lands in-store on Feb 4th.

To dig into the reasons behind spearheading this collaboration, we sat down with Anders Trentemøller for a hot cup of coffee, to talk about the source of his inspiration and working process

Anders, do you have a certain ritual surrounding your creative process? Or is it good old fashioned hard work?

For me the creative process is never hard work, it's nearly the opposite. I tend to often forget time and place when I'm in the creative process and suddenly I see myself spending 8-9 hours in a row in my own 'dreamworld'. It's the fantastic thing about it. It has to be a playful experience otherwise there's no meaning in making music for me. If I think too much about what I'm doing I often lose the spontaneous vibe and then the music gets strained.

What inspired the move towards a fashion-based project?

I thought it would be great to produce some cool clothes that go hand in hand with my music. A more sophisticated kind of merchandise in good quality, and something I would wear myself. I mostly wear black myself so it had to be minimalistic, simple and black! The t-shirt is specially designed out of an old favourite t-shirt of mine that I often wear to perform in, so it's great to have a new t-shirt with that same look.

You're undoubtedly an expert in your field. How important is it for you to be involved in the creative process in another field? Which aspects of the process do you prefer?

I always try to be involved in as many aspects as possible surrounding the music. Especially in our live stage design. Since my music can be quite cinematic and most of it is instrumental, it's great to have a visual dimension that will substantiate the music. But for me my main focus is still on writing and producing the music and play it live around the world. That's my driving force!

Any other news in the pipeline? What can we expect from Trentemøller in 2011?

I recently released my third single 'Silver Surfer , Ghost rider go!' from my new album 'Into the great wide yonder' including a live video from the main stage at Roskilde Festival last year, where we played the track in front of 60.000 people for the first time. The single also comes with a super cool remix by Andrew Weatherall. In late December /January we go to Australia to play some concerts and in March we hit the states, Mexico and Brazil with my 7 person band. Soon Trentemøller remixes of UNKLE and the Danish band Chimes & Bells will hit the streets and then I will slowly start working on my next album

Norse Projects for Colette by Armor Lux

It is the pleasure of Norse Projects to announce a three-way collaboration with our French friends from Colette and traditional Breton outfitters Armor Lux. The latter have been producing quality functional garments for over 70 years and are official suppliers to the French postal service.

The idea was seeded with Sarah from Colette at a meeting in August this year in which we discussed creating a collection that aspired to pay homage to Armor Lux’s classic heritage, whilst updating fits and adding details to place the items in a modern context.

The collaboration consists of six items: A Pea coat, two lamb’s wool knits, a long sleeved interlock jersey, a beanie and a scarf. Each piece features a double blue line, which references the two dots of Colette’s logo and the partnership between Colette and Norse Projects.

The classic Armor Lux Pea Coat has been updated with military inspired front pockets, highlighted chest pockets, two inner pockets and a blue, woolen liner insert. The knits and interlock jersey have slimmed down fits, whilst all items feature bright “Colette blue” detailing and an exclusive three-way collaboration label.

Norse Projects x Hestra

We have teamed up with our friends from Swedish glove manufacturer Hestra again this season to follow up on a successful partnership last year. One of the gloves we have chosen to work with this year is a traditional workwear style glove which features a beautifully soft deer skin leather outer, an extra warm, but slim, wool terry lining, and an embossed Hestra x Norse Projects Logo and tag.

Black Masters

Norse Projects proudly worked together with UK artist Jody Barton on some tees for our A/W 2010 collection.
Jody has recently published a book of his work titled “Black Masters”. The book is filled with over 600 of Jody’s black ink drawings; humorous, insightful, funny and dark, they are sure to delight.
